Ludwyg is a 2 piece Post-Punk, Noise, Electronica band w/ hints of Horror Punk, Surf and New Wave. (written by Billy Ludwig) Ludwyg was formed as early a 2002 as my electronic solo project. After several years of writing and developing the sound I was going for; I began auditioning musicians for a live band... I had first met John through a mutual acquaintance who at the time was playing guitar for me. John and I meshed really well together not only musically but we had alot of the same interests in music, film and art. It wasn't long before we had asked the guitarist who had introduced us to leave the band... this would become a trend for sometime. In the Spring of 2006, after numerous auditions and line-up changes... we finally settled down as a 4 piece band. After a good 6 months of rehearsing (sometimes 5 nights a week); we played our first show at the Phantasy Nite Club in Lakewood, Ohio on November 11th 2006. We practiced ritualistically, promoted heavily and booked a multitude of shows with our tenth performance being an opening slot for electronica legends, VNV Nation. There was alot of momentum, new ideas and goals that we had set for ourselves... with that in mind, by July 2007, John and I had asked the other 2 band members to leave... Since we had numerous shows booked and had no intentions of canceling, the songs were revamped quickly to make up for the loss of instruments being played live. Although we had always felt that it was necessary for us to have more musicians on stage; in alot of ways the band ultimately began when we played our first show as a 2 piece in July 2007 at the Grog Shop in Cleveland, Ohio. |
